Constantino Parente: What is the latest update on Marko Arnautovic’s injury and will the West Ham striker be fit to face Chelsea?

MARKO ARNAUTOVIC had a mixed afternoon as West Ham thumped Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park.

The striker was instrumental in the win, scoring one and setting up Andriy Yarmolenko for another, but was forced off with what looked like a knee injury in the second half.

What is the latest update on Marko Arnautovic’s injury?

Marko Arnautovic walked off clutching his knee as West Ham were victorious at Goodison.

He was replaced by Michail Antonio in the 64th minute.

And after the match, boss Manuel Pellegrini said the Austrian had indeed suffered a knee injury.

He commented: “It’s his left knee. We have a recovery day tomorrow and then we will see how he is.”


Will Marko Arnautovic be fit to face Chelsea?

West Ham fans will be desperate to see the explosive striker back in action for the London derby against Chelsea but Arnautovic wasn’t offering any guarantees.

After the match, the man of the match told Sky Sports: “I don’t know [the extent of the injury], we need to check it now.

“It’s my knee. I don’t know, it’s hurting a little bit. We will check it this week.”
