PEP GUARDIOLA admits he feels guilty about Phil Foden’s lack of action this season.
The highly-rated youngster has played just eight minutes of the new Premier League campaign.
That’s despite playing a starring role for City in their pre-season action.
Guardiola vowed over the summer that Foden was set for a big role at the Etihad and therefore would not be sent out on loan.
But with plenty more games to come, including the return of Champions League football, the tactician insists Foden will get his chance soon.
Guardiola said: “I feel guilty. He deserves to play. The problem was the injury to Sergio Aguero (against Fulham), we didn’t want to take a risk.
“Foden will play a lot of games this season – I feel it. The guys after the game were so tired.
“We have games, games, games. He’s going to play. I like him a lot.
“Every time he players, he plays so good. He will play minutes.”
Guardiola also reserved praise for Leroy Sane, adding: “We never had doubts about his quality. Delighted for his performance and so confident.”
