INTER MILAN have been dealt another blow as Sime Vrsaljko has been ruled out with a knee injury.
The defender’s absence is yet another set back to the Serie A side who have already slumped to 13th place in the table and face Tottenham on Tuesday.
The Italian side welcome Tottenham to the San Siro on Tuesday.
But their Croatian World Cup star suffered an injury to his left knee whilst on international duty so will not feature in the group stage clash.
Vrsaljko suffered a similar injury during the World Cup quarter-finals and already missed his Inter Milan’s defeat to Parma.
Speaking to Mediaset, he said: “I felt a pinch in the knee, but it was a problem I had already had at the World Cup.
“I need to get to the bottom of it and talk about it with the club and the team doctors.”
Vrsaljko only joined the Italian side in the summer, on a one-year deal from Atletico Madrid so will hope that the inflammation of his knee doesn’t rule him out for an extended period.
But, Tottenham also appear to be suffering from a growing injury list- which could see Dele Ali and Hugo Lloris miss their Champions League meeting.
Unlike at the World Cup, where the defender featured heavily, Vrsaljko only had 20 minutes on the pitch during his country’s clash with Spain.

It meant that he was forced to watch the 6-0 thrashing from the sideline.
Vrsaljko isn’t the only Croatian at Inter Milan that has got everyone talking.
Ivan Perisic is also the talk of the town as he is being eyed up as a replacement for Anthony Martial, should the Frenchman move to Milan in January.
To smooth the deal with Manchester United, the Serie A club are ready to offer the Croatian winger in return.
